Traditionally, LEDs have required direct current, or DC, to operate without flickering with the frequency of alternating current. Philips has demonstrated a brand new OLED, or organic LED, panel that runs on AC power without bulky transformers. OLEDs are well suited for household uses because of their small size and flexibility. They are also capable of being fully dimmable and producing other colors of light.
We’re one step closer to having LED illumination in our houses!
